What is your role at Q-Line? How long have you been with Q-Line, and what did you do prior to working here?
My name is Leigha Strudwick, and I am a Business Development Manager at Q-Line. I have over 20 years of experience in the transportation industry, with the last 10 years specializing in bulk transportation. I also hold a Diploma in Computer Programming, which has strengthened my analytical and problem-solving skills that I use in business development.
Can you walk us through a typical day in your role? What are the key responsibilities you manage?
My main responsibility is seeking out new business opportunities that align with Q-Line’s strengths and growth strategy. This includes researching potential customers, identifying industry trends, and finding ways to expand Q-Line’s market presence while ensuring our services remain competitive and efficient.
What do you find most rewarding about your work at Q-Line?
I thrive on competition, continuous improvement, and proving what Q-Line is capable of achieving. My passion lies in driving company growth and uncovering new opportunities to expand our reach.
What are the biggest challenges you face in your role, and how do you overcome them?
Challenges often come in the form of identifying new market opportunities where others may not see them. By continuously researching and engaging with potential partners, I’ve helped open doors to new opportunities that align with Q-Line’s strengths.
How do you collaborate with other team members and drivers to ensure success?
I work closely with team members across departments to ensure the opportunities I pursue are the right fit. Staying aligned is important so we can deliver on what we promise and support growth in a sustainable way.
What qualities or skills do you think are essential to thrive in the trucking industry?
With a decade of experience in bulk transportation, I’ve found that curiosity and drive are essential. Strong industry knowledge and the ability to build lasting customer relationships are just as important.
Can you share a memorable moment or accomplishment from your time at Q-Line?
One of my biggest accomplishments has been growing the liquid fleet on the bulk side of our business. This required extensive industry knowledge, customer engagement, and strategic planning to expand our capabilities and meet increasing demand.
What hobbies or interests do you enjoy outside of work?
I have two boys and live on an acreage, so I appreciate the pace and connection of rural life.
What is one interesting or surprising fact about yourself that others might not know?
My background in computer programming helps me bring a data-driven approach to business development. It’s not something most people expect when they hear what I do.
How do you stay motivated and positive in a fast-paced industry like trucking?
I stay informed by tracking industry trends, networking with transportation professionals, and continually looking for ways to stay ahead of the market.
